Shooting in North Long Beach leaves 1 man dead, police say

The shooting happened around 7:54 p.m. Friday at the 5400 block of Paramount Boulevard, according to the LBPD.

Police are investigating a shooting in North Long Beach that left one man dead Friday night, authorities said.

Long Beach police say they responded to the 5400 block of Paramount Boulevard around 7:54 p.m. following reports of a shooting. There, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body, according to the LBPD.

Both LBPD and Long Beach Fire Department personnel rendered aid to the man, but he died at the scene, according to authorities. 

The identity of the victim is being withheld while the Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner works to notify his next of kin, police said.

The motive and circumstances of the shooting are under investigation, police added.

Police are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call Homicide Detectives Michael Hubbard and Kelsey Myers at 562-570-7244.
