Shooting in Hellman neighborhood leaves 2 teens injured, police say
The teens were confronted by a group of men in the 800 block of Orange Avenue around 5:29 p.m. Thursday when one of the men opened fire, according to the LBPD.
Authorities are investigating a shooting in Long Beach’s Hellman neighborhood that left two teens injured Thursday night.
Long Beach police say three male teens were in the 800 block of Orange Avenue around 5:29 p.m. when they were confronted by a group of men. After a verbal exchange, one of the men began shooting at the teens, police said.
Two of the teens were hit, according to the LBPD. Officers gave aid to one teen who sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper and lower body, then Long Beach Fire Department personnel took him to a local hospital, police said. His wounds were not considered life-threatening, police added.
Paramedics treated the second teen at the scene for a minor gunshot wound to his upper body, according to authorities.
The men fled prior to officers' arrival, police said.
Officers located a crime scene and their investigation is ongoing, police added.
