Authorities are investigating a shooting in Downtown Long Beach Wednesday afternoon that left a man injured and sparked a police chase.

Long Beach Police say officers were called to the 400 block of Chestnut Avenue after receiving reports of a shooting in the area around 1 p.m.

When they arrived, officers noticed a vehicle driving away from the scene of the shooting and gave chase, police said.

Eventually, the suspects inside the vehicle came to a stop near Seventh Street and Chestnut Avenue and were detained by police, according to the LBPD.

The man who’d been shot, meanwhile, was taken to a local hospital, police said.

He has a gunshot wound to the upper body, though it does not appear life-threatening, according to authorities.
