The man was in the 3200 block of Atlantic Avenue around 8:43 p.m. Sunday when an unknown suspect shot him, according to the LBPD.

Authorities are investigating a shooting in Long Beach’s California Heights neighborhood that left a man hospitalized Sunday night.

Long Beach police say the man was in the 3200 block of Atlantic Avenue around 8:43 p.m. Sunday when he "felt pain to his lower body."

The man took himself to a local hospital, where he was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, police said.

LBPD officers searched the area the man described but were unable to locate a crime scene, according to police.

The motive, circumstances of the shooting and suspect information are under investigation, police said.
