Police find gun in woman’s car after she drove it onto Junipero Beach, authorities say

Officers arrested the Walnut Park woman early Monday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence on the beach while carrying a concealed weapon, police said.

A Walnut Park woman was arrested early Monday morning when she drove a car onto Junipero Beach, leading to officers finding a gun in the vehicle, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Police say the woman drove onto the beach in the 2100 block of Ocean Boulevard at around 1:14 a.m.

Long Beach police officers saw the car stuck in the sand and began investigating whether the driver was under the influence, authorities said.

During their investigation, the officers found a black handgun inside the car and seized it, police said.

The driver, identified as 23-year-old Anny Olivares by police, was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving on the beach and carrying a concealed weapon inside a vehicle, according to the LBPD. Her bail was set at zero dollars, they added.
