Police ask for help identifying suspected rapist
Police believe the man struck a second woman hours after the sexual assault Wednesday morning.
Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man suspected of raping a woman near 10th Street and Pacific Avenue Wednesday morning.
A woman was walking by an alleyway near the intersection around 1 a.m. when a man approached her and sexually assaulted her, the Long Beach Police Department announced on X.
The suspect then ran away northbound on Pacific Avenue, police added.
Police say the suspect may have also physically assaulted another woman in the 1200 block of Long Beach Boulevard — four blocks from the first attack — about eight hours later.
The suspect, described by police as a 25- to 30-year-old Black man, is around 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs between 180 to 200 pounds. He has medium-length dreads and facial hair, the department added.
Police ask anyone with information about the suspect to contact detectives at 562-570-7368.
