Police arrest man following stabbing in North Long Beach

A 16-year-old was also shot in a separate North Long Beach incident, according to the LBPD.

Police arrested a 29-year-old man for allegedly stabbing a woman in North Long Beach early Thursday morning, according to authorities.

Long Beach police say David James Woods, 29, of Long Beach allegedly stabbed a woman near the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Harding Street around 12:10 a.m. Thursday.

After making contact with the stabbing victim, police said they found Woods, who briefly fled before being arrested.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel took the woman to a local hospital where she was treated for multiple stab wounds to her upper body, according to police. Her wounds were not considered life-threatening, police said.

Woods was booked for assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest, according to the LBPD. His bail was set at $30,000, according to authorities.

The investigation into the stabbing is ongoing, police said.

About five hours earlier in a separate incident, a 16-year-old boy was shot in the 5200 block of Atlantic Avenue, according to police.

LBFD personnel took the teen to a local hospital where he was treated for a gunshot wound to his upper body, according to authorities. Police said his wound was not considered life-threatening.

The motive, circumstances and suspect information for the shooting are all under investigation, police said.
