Police arrest man following stabbing in Hellman neighborhood
Two other people were shot in a separate incident in West Long Beach, according to authorities.
Police arrested an 18-year-old man for allegedly stabbing another man in the Hellman neighborhood Saturday night, according to authorities.
Long Beach police say Devan Soben Titus Leang of Long Beach stabbed a man during an argument in the 700 block of Cherry Avenue around 8:19 p.m. Saturday.
The victim went to a local hospital where he was treated for multiple stab wounds to his upper and lower body, police said. His wounds were not considered life-threatening, according to authorities.
Leang was still at the scene when LBPD officers arrived, and also went to a local hospital for treatment, police said. Leang was later booked into the Long Beach city jail for assault with a deadly weapon, police added.
Leang's bail was set at $3 million, according to the LBPD. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, police said.
About seven hours later, a man and woman were shot in West Long Beach, according to police.
The victims were in the 5700 block of Union Pacific Railroad around 2:54 a.m. Sunday when they were shot, according to the LBPD.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel took both victims to a local hospital, where the man was treated for a gunshot wound to his lower body and the woman was treated for multiple gunshot wounds to her upper and lower body, police said. Their wounds were not considered life-threatening, according to authorities.
The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived, police said.
The motive and circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation, according to police.
