Police arrested a 34-year-old man for allegedly stabbing a teenager in Downtown Long Beach late Sunday afternoon, according to authorities.

Long Beach police say Christopher Ivan Gonzalez of Long Beach stabbed a 16-year–old boy in the 100 block of Pacific Avenue around 5:42 p.m. Sunday.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel took the teen to a local hospital, where he was treated for multiple stab wounds to his upper body, police said. His wounds were not considered life-threatening, according to authorities.

LBPD officers located Gonzalez as he attempted to flee the scene, police said. While being arrested, Gonzalez allegedly assaulted an officer, who was not injured, police added.

Gonzalez was then booked for attempted murder, resisting arrest, resisting arrest by means of force or violence and disorderly conduct, authorities said.

Bail was set at $1 million, police said.
