Police are investigating a hit and run crash that killed a pedestrian last month
The man was hit near 31st Street and Atlantic Avenue on Aug. 15, according to authorities.

Police say they’re investigating the death of a man who was hit by a car near 31st Street and Atlantic Avenue on Aug. 15.
The man was in the roadway of Atlantic Avenue around 2 a.m. that night when he was hit by a white Chrysler traveling southbound, according to Long Beach police. After the collision, the driver of the Chrysler continued southbound, police said.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel took the pedestrian to a local hospital, according to authorities. The man died of his injuries two days later, police said, adding that the department was not notified of his death until Sept. 19.
Police only identified the pedestrian as a man from Long Beach while the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office works to notify his next of kin.

This is 42nd traffic fatality reported by the LBPD this year. There were 40 traffic fatalities in the city in 2024, according to police statistics.
