Pedestrian dies after being hit by vehicle in West Long Beach, police say
The man was crossing Pacific Coast Highway west of Golden Avenue early Sunday night when he was hit, according to authorities.

A man has died after being hit by a vehicle in West Long Beach, authorities said.
Long Beach police said the man was crossing Pacific Coast Highway west of Golden Avenue around 6:38 p.m. Sunday when the vehicle traveling westbound on PCH struck him.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel determined the man had died at the scene, according to authorities.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officers, police said.
The pedestrian's identity is being withheld until the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner notifies the next of kin, according to the LBPD.
At this time, speed, distracted and impaired driving do not appear to have contributed to the collision, police said.

This is 30th traffic fatality reported by the LBPD this year. There were 40 traffic fatalities in the city in 2024, according to police statistics.
