A man has died after being hit by a car in West Long Beach, authorities said.
Long Beach police said the man was walking a bicycle across Pacific Place near Wardlow Road outside of a crosswalk around 6:07 p.m. Wednesday when he was hit by a 2012 Toyota Corolla traveling northbound.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel rendered aid and then took the man to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries, according to authorities.
The vehicle's driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner is working to identify the pedestrian and notify his next of kin, according to the LBPD.
At this time, police said speed, impaired driving and distracted driving do not appear to be factors in the collision.
Police are asking anyone who saw the collision to call LBPD Collision Investigation Detail Detective Efrain Pineda at 562-570-7355.
This is 33rd traffic fatality reported by the LBPD this year. There were 40 traffic fatalities in the city in 2024, according to police statistics.
