Pedestrian dies after being hit by a car in March
The man was crossing Anaheim Street at Cedar Avenue in a crosswalk on March 30 when he was hit, according to authorities.

Police say theyβre investigating the death of a man who was hit by a car while crossing Anaheim Street near Cedar Avenue on March 30.
The man was in the crosswalk on Anaheim Street around 3:16 p.m. that day when he was hit by a Chevrolet sedan making a left turn onto Anaheim from Cedar, according to Long Beach police.
The driver of the sedan remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel took the man, who was still conscious and able to speak, to a local hospital, according to authorities. The man died of his injuries a month after the crash, police said, adding that the department was not notified of the death until Aug. 13.
Police identified the man as Marcus Duarte-Gonzalez of Long Beach.

This is the 45th traffic fatality reported by the LBPD this year. There were 40 traffic fatalities in the city in 2024, according to police statistics.
