Police say the crash happened shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday near 23rd Street and Santa Fe Avenue.

Pedestrian critically hurt in West Long Beach crash, police say

A woman is in critical condition after being hit by a car in West Long Beach Wednesday morning, police said.

Police did not specify what led to the crash but said the driver of a car struck a woman walking shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday near 23rd Street and Santa Fe Avenue, which is just north of Admiral Kidd Park.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived at the crash site and took the woman to a local hospital where she is listed in critical condition, police said.

The investigation is ongoing, police said, adding that officers are working to determine what caused the crash.
