Pedestrian dies after being hit by semi-truck, police say
The man was walking in the middle of 67th Street in North Long Beach when he was hit, according to authorities.

Police are investigating the death of a man who was hit by a semi-truck in North Long Beach Friday afternoon.
The man was walking northbound in the middle of 67th Street near Paramount Boulevard outside of a marked crosswalk around 4:05 p.m. Friday when he was hit by a person driving a 2019 International semi-truck traveling southbound on 67th Street, according to Long Beach police.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel aided the man, but he died of his injuries at the scene, according to authorities.
The man's identity is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's office, according to police.
The driver, identified as a 51-year-old Long Beach resident, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
At this time, police say speed, distracted and impaired driving do not appear to be factors in the collision.

This is 40th traffic fatality reported by the LBPD this year. There were 40 traffic fatalities in the city in 2024, according to police statistics.
