From the opening of a new Keith Haring exhibit to a grand opening for an ice cream shop, here's what's going on this Memorial Day weekend.
The weather still feels far too chilly for it to really be springtime, but the city is alive with events and activities to keep you moving all Memorial Day Weekend.

Long Beach BBQ Festival (Saturday)
The second annual Long Beach BBQ Festival will take place on Saturday from noon to 9 p.m. The event will be at Shoreline Aquatic Park is hosted by local business Axiom Kitchen and Noah’s Arc Foundation. There will be, of course, plenty of barbecue bites to enjoy, from pulled pork to ribs and burgers. There will also be games, shopping and music from Indica Roots, Special Blend — and a surprise headliner.

Keith Haring: Radiant Vision exhibit (Saturday)
Long Beach Museum of Art will kick off the opening of their new exhibit, Keith Haring: Radiant Vision, with an opening reception from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $20, but museum members can see the exhibit for free at 5 p.m. Haring gained notoriety for his satirical posters, pop art and murals inspired by New York City’s graffiti subculture in the 1980s. The exhibit will run from May 25 to August 25.

Reggaeton Boat Party (Saturday)
Ever wanted to dance the night away on the Queen Mary? Now’s your chance at a reggaeton boat party this Saturday at 7 p.m. There will be two dance floors, an outside deck, multiple bars, live music and a taco stand.

Grocery Giveaway (Saturday)
Those in need of some assistance can receive free groceries every Saturday at the California Aquatic Therapy and Wellness Center starting at 11 a.m. until supplies last. Groceries include fresh eggs, meat, and vegetables, and educational material on asthma and health can also be found.

Galata Turkish Ice Cream grand opening (Saturday)
The Second Street Turkish ice cream shop that’s been serving up sweet treats will have its official ribbon cutting ceremony Saturday at 4 p.m. Live music and free samples will be available. The shop is located at the corner of Second Street and Nieto Avenue next to Galata Halal Restaurant and Grill.
Honoring our Heroes (Sunday)
The Long Beach Office of Veterans Support will hold a sunset ceremony in commemoration of Memorial Day on Sunday from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Navy Memorial in Shoreline Aquatic Park. Live music, an information fair and a kids zone will be set up. The flyover with historic aircraft will take place at 5:50 p.m.
Terrarium Workshop (Sunday)
Plantitas is hosting a terrarium workshop where people can learn how to create a self-sustaining terrarium. All necessary items will be provided and a 15% discount will be given for same-day use in the shop. Tickets are $40 for a small jar and $50 for a large jar. The workshop will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Patchwork Show (Sunday)
Patchwork Show, a maker’s mart and community festival, will hit Long Beach this Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Marine Stadium show is Dear Handmade Life’s longest-running and largest show with over 250 makers, junior artists, live music, artisan food vendors, food trucks, DIY crafting, activities and more. Tickets to the festival are not required.
