1 injured after driver runs through stop sign before crashing into multiple cars near Bluff Park, police say
Authorities allege the driver, who had previously been convicted of a felony DUI, was driving under the influence at the time of the crash.
A woman was hospitalized Tuesday afternoon after a man driving in the area of Bluff Park ran through a stop sign and crashed into multiple cars.
Police say the crash happened sometime before 12:28 p.m. in the area of Second Street and Redondo Avenue.
Huntington Beach resident Jonathan Jason Castillo, 28, ran through the stop sign and collided with another vehicle driven by a woman, according to authorities. He then crashed into two parked cars before coming to a stop, they said.
A video of the incident on TikTok taken by @jsantoyooo , which has amassed roughly 6.3 million views as of Wednesday evening, shows a crowd of people surrounding the site of the crash as car parts litter the street.
“I fucked up,” the driver of a white mustang that is shown crashed into another car can be heard saying. A second video then shows the same man groaning in agony and giving onlookers the middle finger while lying on the ground next to the white car. A third video shows Long Beach police officers handcuffing him.
The woman in the car police say Castillo collided with was taken by Long Beach Fire personnel to a local hospital for treatment, police said, adding that her injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Castillo, meanwhile, was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence and driving under the influence within ten years of a prior felony DUI, police said. He remains jailed while he waits for a judge to review his bail, authorities said.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
