Motorcylist critically hurt in crash near El Dorado Park, police say
Police say the motorcyclist ran a red light and crashed into another car at the Spring Street and Studebaker Road intersection shortly before 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
A motorcyclist is in critical condition after running a red light and crashing into another car near El Dorado Park Sunday afternoon.
Police say the driver of a Volkswagen Taos was going northbound on Studebaker Road and entered an intersection to try and make left turn onto the westbound lanes of Spring Street.
That's when the motorcyclist, who was going southbound on Studebaker Road, sped through a red light and crashed into the Volkswagen Taos, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Long Beach Fire Department arrived at the scene and rendered aid to the motorcyclist, who was then taken to a local hospital, police said. The motorcyclist is currently in critical condition, they added. Police did not say whether the driver of the Volkswagen was injured in the crash.
At this time, impaired or distracted driving do not appear to have factored into the crash, according to the LBPD. The investigation is ongoing, they said.
Police ask anyone with more information to contact Detectives at 562-570-7355.
