Cyclist killed in crash near CSULB, police say
The cyclist, according to police, was riding eastbound in the number three lane of Seventh Street, east of Margo Avenue, around 5:05 a.m. when the driver of a car hit him from behind.
Long Beach police say they’re investigating a crash Friday morning near Cal State Long Beach that left a cyclist dead.
The cyclist, according to police, was riding eastbound in the number three lane of Seventh Street, east of Margo Avenue, around 5:05 a.m. when the driver of a car hit him from behind.
Officers arrived at the scene and found the cyclist unconscious on a nearby sidewalk, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, they added. His identity was not immediately released as the Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s office works to notify his family.
The driver of the vehicle, meanwhile remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said. Speed, distracted driving, or impaired driving do not appear to be factors in the crash, police said.
