Police are investigating the death of a man who was hit by a car while riding a motorcycle on Anaheim Street Tuesday morning.

Long Beach police say the man was riding eastbound on Anaheim Street around 6 a.m. when he entered the intersection with Linden Avenue. At the same time, a white 2020 Mercedes-Benz made a left turn from westbound Anaheim Street in front of the motorcyclist, police said.

The motorcyclist collided with the Mercedes and he was ejected from his bike, police added.

Bystanders and the Mercedes driver gave aid to the motorcyclist before Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived, according to authorities. LBFD personnel took the motorcyclist to a local hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

The man's identity is being withheld while the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's office works to notify his next of kin, police said.

The driver of the Mercedes remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police added.

At this time, police said they do not believe speed, impaired driving or distracted driving were factors in the crash.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen the crash to call LBPD Collision Investigation Detail Detective Edwin Paredes at 562-570-7110.

This is the sixth traffic fatality reported by the LBPD in 2026. Last year, the department reported 57 traffic-related fatalities from 55 crashes, making it the deadliest year on the road since at least 1990, when the city reported 51 deaths, according to LBPD data from a public records request by the Watchdog.

The LBPD reported just one traffic fatality by this time last year.
