Motorcyclist dies in high-speed crash in North Long Beach, police say
Police say the driver of a Honda Civic was turning left onto eastbound 45th Street near Long Beach Boulevard Saturday night when the motorcyclist crashed into the car at a high rate of speed.
A motorcyclist died Saturday night after crashing into the side of a car while in North Long Beach, police announced today.
Police say the motorcyclist was speeding northbound on Long Beach Boulevard in a 2003 Yamaha Motorcycle around 9:40 p.m. when he crashed into the passenger side of a 2021 Honda CR-V whose driver was trying to make a left turn from Long Beach Boulevard onto 45th Street.
Long Beach Fire personnel arrived at the scene and took the motorcyclist to a local hospital where he died from his injuries, police said. His identity or age was not immediately released.
The driver of the CR-V, who remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, was also taken to a local hospital. The driver's injuries were not considered life-threatening, police said.
While the motorcyclist's speed is being considered a factor in the crash, police say neither driver appeared to be distracted driving or driving under the influence.
Police ask anyone who may have more information on the crash to contact detectives at 562-570-7355.
