Motorcyclist dies after sideswiping truck, police say
The man, 27, was riding near Redondo Avenue and Anaheim Street Thursday night when he hit the truck and then lost control, according to authorities.

Police say theyโre investigating the death of a motorcyclist who crashed near Redondo Avenue and Anaheim Street Thursday night.
The motorcyclist, according to the Long Beach Police Department, was traveling northbound on Redondo Avenue on a Yamaha motorcycle around 10:27 p.m. when he sideswiped a pickup truck and then lost control and hit a curb.
The motorcyclist was then ejected, police said.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel rendered aid to the motorcyclist, but ultimately pronounced him dead at the scene, authorities said.
No other injuries were reported, according to the LBPD. The driver of the truck, a 63-year-old Lomita resident, returned to the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
At this time, speed is considered a contributing factor in the collision, according to the LBPD.
The motorcyclist was only identified as a 27-year-old Long Beach resident as the Los Angeles County Medical Examinerโs office works to notify his relatives.

This is 26th traffic fatality in Long Beach this year, according to the LBPD. There were 40 traffic fatalities in the city in 2024, according to police statistics.
