Man turned himself in after fatal hit-and-run in Bluff Park
Christopher Bryant, 40, left the scene Saturday after crashing into a bicyclist who later died of her injuries, according to authorities.
A 40-year-old Los Angeles resident has been arrested for allegedly causing a hit-a-run crash last week that killed a woman, police said Wednesday.
Long Beach police say Christopher Bryant, 40, of Los Angeles left the scene Saturday after hitting a bicyclist who later died of her injuries, according to authorities.
In the crash, the woman was riding southbound on Redondo Avenue through the intersection with Second Street around 4:48 p.m. when she was hit by Bryant, who was driving a gray 2025 Hyundai Sonata westbound on Second, police said.
Bryant had entered the intersection at a high rate of speed and did not stop at the stop sign, police added.
A bystander gave the woman aid before Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived and took her to a local hospital, where she later died of her injuries, according to authorities.
Bryant fled the scene and was last seen heading westbound on Second Street, according to the LBPD. He turned himself in at the Public Safety Building Wednesday, police added.
Bryant was booked for vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, hit-and-run involving death/great bodily injury and reckless driving, police said.
His bail was set at $50,000, according to police.
Police are asking anyone who may have seen the crash to call LBPD Collision Investigation Detail Detective Edwin Paredes at 562-570-7110.
