Police say the man was parked in the 6500 block of Muriel Avenue when a gunman shot him around 11:45 p.m. Monday night.

Police say they’re investigating a shooting in North Long Beach Monday night that left one man injured.

A man was inside his parked car in the 6500 block of Muriel Avenue around 11:45 p.m. when a gunman walked up and shot him in the upper body, according to the Long Beach Police Department. The gunman then ran away, they added.

Long Beach Fire personnel responded to the scene and took the man to a local hospital for treatment, according to police, who said his wound was not considered life-threatening.

It’s unclear at this time who shot the man or why.
