Details about what led up to the shooting, such as a motive, are still unclear, but Long Beach Police say officers rushed to the 4100 block of Willow Street Thursday around 3:33 p.m. after getting reports of a shooting.

When the officers arrived, they found a man inside a hotel room suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body, police said.

He was taken by Long Beach Fire personnel to a local hospital where he died, police added. His identity was not immediately revealed as the Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s office works to notify his family.

Police are asking anyone with more information about the shooting to contact detectives at 562-570-7244.
