Man refused to cooperate with investigation after being shot, police say

A man was shot in Long Beach's Hellman neighborhood early Friday morning, but refused to cooperate with the investigating officers, according to police.
Officers responded around 1:43 a.m. to the 1000 block of Gaviota Avenue following reports of a shooting in the area, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
When the officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot multiple times in the upper body, police said. Long Beach Fire Department personnel took the shooting victim to a local hospital for treatment, authorities said.
His wounds were not considered life-threatening, according to the LBPD.
The victim was apparently in his vehicle when an unknown suspect approached him and fired a gun toward the vehicle, striking him, police said. The suspect fled prior to officers’ arrival, according to police.
The shooting victim was uncooperative in providing additional details about the shooting, police said.
The motive for the shooting and suspect information are under investigation, according to the LBPD.
