Authorities are investigating a shooting in Long Beachโ€™s Washington neighborhood that left a man injured Sunday night.

Police say the man was in the 1500 block of Locust Avenue around 9:31 p.m. Sunday when an unknown suspect shot him and fled the scene.

Officers responded to the area and found the victim with a gunshot wound to the lower body, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

He was taken by Long Beach Fire Department personnel to a local hospital for treatment, police said, adding that his wound is not considered life-threatening and that he is in stable condition.

Itโ€™s not yet clear why the suspect shot the man or whether they knew each other. Police said they are still looking into a motive.
