Police say they’re investigating a stabbing near Long Beach’s Rose Park neighborhood that left one man dead Thursday night.

Two men were arguing in the 1000 block of Stanley Avenue around 10 p.m. when one of them stabbed the other in the upper body multiple times, according to the Long Beach Police Department. The suspect then fled the scene, they added.

Officers responded to the scene and rendered aid to the man who had been stabbed until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived and took over, authorities said.

The man who had been stabbed was then taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries, police said. He was identified by police as 36-year-old Long Beach resident Arnold Archivald Garcia Baide.

It's not yet clear what Garcia Baide and the suspect were arguing about.

Police are asking anyone with more information to contact detectives at 562-570-7244.
