Man fatally shot in North Long Beach, police say

Police say the man was shot near the 5400 block of Atlantic Avenue around 3:50 a.m. Monday.

Police said they’re investigating a fatal shooting of a man in North Long Beach early Monday morning.

The man was near the 5400 block of Atlantic Avenue around 3:50 a.m. when he was shot in the upper body, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

LBPD officers rendered aid until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived and transported the man to a local hospital where he died of his injuries, according to authorities.

The man's identity is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin by the Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner, police said.

At this time, the motive and circumstances of the shooting are under investigation, police said. There is currently no suspect information, police added.
