Man fatally shot in Coolidge Triangle neighborhood, Long Beach police say
Police say they found 39-year-old Long Beach resident Vernont Murray on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds in the area of Long Beach Boulevard and Victoria Street Monday night.
Detectives are investigating a shooting in Long Beach’s Coolidge Triangle neighborhood that left a man dead Monday night.
Officers responded to the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and Victoria Street just before 10 p.m. after reports of a shooting in the area, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
When they got to the intersection, officers found 39-year-old Long Beach resident Vernont Murray on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body, authorities said.
Officers rendered aid to Murray until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived and took over, police said. Murray was then taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries, police added.
No suspect or suspects have been arrested. Police believe whoever shot Murray left the area before officers arrived.
It’s unclear why someone shot Murray, according to police. The LBPD is asking anytime with more information to contact detectives at 562-570-7244.
