Man dies in fiery crash along 710 Freeway off-ramp in Long Beach, CHP says

It’s unclear what caused the man to lose control of the car but authorities say he crashed into a freeway sign at the 710 Freeway off ramp near Anaheim Street before colliding with a tree during the early hours of July 6.

A 31-year-old man died early Saturday morning in a fiery crash at the 710 Freeway off-ramp near Anaheim Street in Long Beach, authorities said.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving a 2018 Ford F-150 northbound on the 710 Freeway in Long Beach around 2:37 a.m. when he took the eastbound off-ramp Anaheim Street.

It‘s not yet clear what happened, according to the CHP, but the man lost control of the truck and drove through a freeway advisory sign before crashing into a tree. The impact cause the truck to ignite on fire and eventually it became engulfed in flames, according to the CHP.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP added. Authorities did not immediately reveal his identity.

The CHP asks anyone with more information to contact officers at 424-551-4000.
