Man dies after truck rolled over him in West Long Beach, police say
He was sleeping on the sidewalk at the intersection of Oregon Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway Wednesday night, according to authorities.

A man has died after being hit by a semi-truck in West Long Beach, authorities said.
Long Beach police said the man was apparently sleeping on the sidewalk at the intersection of Oregon Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway around 8:10 p.m. Wednesday when he was run over by the rear wheels of a semi-truck's trailer that was turning southbound onto Oregon from eastbound PCH.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel rendered aid and then took the man to a local hospital where he died of his injuries, according to authorities.
The semi-truck's driver continued southbound on Oregon Avenue and did not return to the scene, police said.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner is working to identify the pedestrian and notify his next of kin, according to the LBPD.
At this time, police said speed, impaired driving and distracted driving do not appear to be factors in the collision.
Police are asking anyone who saw the collision to call LBPD Collision Investigation Detail Detective Joseph Johnson at 562-570-7355.
This is 34th traffic fatality reported by the LBPD this year. There were 40 traffic fatalities in the city in 2024, according to police statistics.
