Man dies after being hit by LB Transit bus, police say
The man was crossing the 400 block of Golden Shore around 1:05 p.m. last week when the bus hit him, according to authorities.
Police are investigating the death of a man who was hit by a bus on Golden Shore last week.
Long Beach police say the man was crossing the 400 block of Golden Shore around 1:05 p.m. on July 21 when he was hit by a Long Beach Transit bus as it turned left onto an access road.
Good samaritans gave the man medical aid until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived at the scene and took him to a local hospital in critical condition, according to authorities.
The man died of his injuries two days later on July 23, police said Wednesday.
His identity is being withheld while the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner works to notify his next of kin, authorities said.
The driver of the transit bus immediately stopped after the crash and cooperated with investigators, according to the LBPD.
At this time, police investigators do not believe speed, distracted driving or impaired driving were factors in the crash, police said.

This is the 30th traffic fatality reported by the LBPD in 2026. Last year, the department reported 56 traffic-related fatalities from 53 crashes, making it the deadliest year on the road since at least 1990, when the city reported 51 deaths, according to LBPD data from a public records request by the Watchdog.
The LBPD reported 33 traffic fatalities by this time last year.
