Man dies after being hit by car near CSULB, police say
The man was apparently lying in the street near the intersection of Seventh Street and Channel Drive Thursday morning when he was hit.

A man has died after being hit by a car near Cal State Long Beach, authorities said.
Long Beach police said the man was lying in the street near the intersection of Seventh Street and Channel Drive around 2:30 a.m. Thursday, when the driver of a car traveling eastbound on Seventh Street struck him.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene, according to authorities.
The driver of the car, identified as a 28-year-old resident of Garden Grove, stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
The pedestrian's identity is being withheld until the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner notifies the next of kin, according to the LBPD.
At this time, speed, distracted and impaired driving do not appear to have contributed to the collision, police said.
A pedestrian was hit by a car and killed at this same intersection last month.
Police are asking anyone who saw the collision Thursday morning to call LBPD Collision Investigation Detail Detective Kevin Johansen at 562-570-7355.
