Man dies after being hit by car in West Long Beach, police say
The man was crossing Pacific Coast Highway near Santa Fe Avenue Sunday night when he was hit, according to police.

A man has died after being hit by a car in West Long Beach, authorities said.
Long Beach police said the man was crossing Pacific Coast Highway near Santa Fe Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk around 9 p.m. Sunday, when a 2016 Toyota Scion driven by a 27-year-old Wilmington resident traveling westbound struck him.
Immediately after that, a 2008 Mazda 3 driven by a 50-year-old resident of Long Beach that was also traveling westbound on Pacific Coast Highway struck the pedestrian in the roadway, police said.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene, according to authorities.
The pedestrian was only identified as a 47-year-old Ontario resident until the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner can notify the next of kin, according to the LBPD.
Both drivers remained on-scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
At this time, speed, distracted and impaired driving do not appear to have contributed to the collision, police added.
Anyone who saw the collision is urged to call LBPD Collision Investigation Detail Detective Kevin Johansen at 562-570-7355.
