Man dies after being hit by car near CSULB, police say
The man was in the street near the intersection of Seventh Street and Channel Drive Wednesday night when he was hit.

A man has died after being hit by a car near Cal State Long Beach, authorities said.
Long Beach police said the man was in the street near the intersection of Seventh Street and Channel Drive just before 11 p.m. Wednesday, when the driver of a 2024 Hyundai Ioniq traveling eastbound on Seventh Street struck him.
After hitting the man, the driver pulled over, police said. While stopped, the driver told police she saw a black truck drive over the man she had just hit, according to the LBPD. The black truck did not stop and fled the scene, police added.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded and found the pedestrian had died at the scene, according to authorities.
The driver of the Hyundai Ioniq stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
The pedestrian's identity is being withheld until the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner can notify the next of kin, according to the LBPD.
At this time, speed, distracted and impaired driving do not appear to have contributed to the collision, police said.
Anyone who saw the collision is urged to call LBPD Collision Investigation Detail Detective Efrain Pineda at 562-570-7355.
