A 39-year-old Los Angeles resident has been arrested on suspicion of fatally shooting a man in Long Beach in July, police said Monday.

Long Beach police said Sean Richson, 39, allegedly shot Rickie Taylor, 27, to death on July 31.

Officers responded to a reported shooting in the area of Bort Street and Long Beach Boulevard around 11:16 p.m. that day and found Taylor with a gunshot wound to his upper body, police said.

LBPD detectives believe that Richson and Taylor were "involved in an interaction involving a family matter, which escalated into the shooting," police said Monday.

Officers at the scene rendered aid until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived and took Taylor to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries, according to authorities.

Soon after, LBPD homicide detectives identified Richson as the suspect responsible for the shooting, police said.

On August 1, Special Investigations Division detectives arrested Richson in Los Angeles, police added.

Richson was booked for murder, and his bail was set at $2 million, according to authorities.

Detectives will present the case to the Los Angeles District Attorney's office later this week for filing consideration, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the shooting to call Homicide Detectives Eric Thai or Chasen Contreras at 562-570-7244.
