A Long Beach man pleaded guilty Friday to traveling to Arizona with the intention of taking a 14-year-old girl he met online back home to have sex with her, authorities said.

Federal authorities say Trevon Nathan Langstaff, 33, met the 14-year-old girl on Reddit and arranged to pick her up in Arizona.

Knowing she was 14, Langstaff told the girl to pretend to be 18, according to authorities.

From there, Langstaff took the girl back to Long Beach where he had sex with her, authorities said.

Police seized the 33-year-old’s phone in on March 26 and found an image of two children engaged in “sexually explicit activity,” authorities said. He was taken into custody the following day, according to authorities.

As part of a plea agreement with federal authorities, Langstaff pleaded guilty to one count of traveling with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct.

"Every day, sexual predators use the internet's relative anonymity to prey on vulnerable youth," United States Attorney Martin Estrada said Friday. "Would-be predators should be aware that my office will use all of its tools to bring them to justice, and, as today's sentence shows, the consequences will be severe."

Langstaff faces a maximum of 30 years in federal prison during his sentencing on March 7, 2025, according to authorities.
