LBPD investigating string of street vendor robberies near Wrigley neighborhood
Each robbery has taken place over the last few months in the area of Cedar Avenue and Willow Street, police say
Police are increasing their presence near Long Beach's Wrigley neighborhood following a string of robberies against street vendors in the area of Cedar Avenue and Willow Street, according to authorities.
The first robbery happened March 24 around 11 p.m., according to the Long Beach Police Department. Three more followed in the same area, with the latest occurring Tuesday night, police say.
According to a report from KTLA on the most recent robbery, the street vendors were selling tacos at a pop-up shop when a masked man on a bike approached them and demanded their money at gunpoint. The suspect was able to get away with $3,500, according to the KTLA report.
Each incident has followed a similar routine, with an armed suspect approaching the street vendor and demanding their money at gunpoint before riding away on a bicycle.
It's not clear whether the same person is suspected in each robbery.
