A man was shot after attempting to stop three women from stealing from the CVS store at the traffic circle early Saturday morning, according to authorities.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting at about 2:50 a.m., according to the Long Beach Police Department. They found a man with a gunshot wound to his lower body, who was transported to a local hospital by Long Beach Fire Department personnel for his non-life-threatening injury, LBPD said.

Police say the man confronted three women who were stealing from the store, attempting to stop the theft. One of the women ultimately shot the man.

The suspects fled the scene before police arrived and the investigation is ongoing, LBPD said.

The department is also investigating another shooting that happened hours before in the 700 block of West Willow St. in the Wrigley area. Officers responded to reports of a shooting just before 11 p.m. Friday night.

Long Beach police found a man who had been shot inside a business after being approached by another man. The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries by Long Beach fire personnel, LBPD said.

The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived, according to the department. The investigation is ongoing.
