Domestic violence suspect arrested after SWAT response, police say
The man barricaded himself for two hours in a West Village apartment Tuesday night.
Police arrested a man they said had barricaded himself in a West Village apartment after a domestic violence incident, prompting a SWAT response.
The man, identified as Luis Angel Del Valle, 26, of Long Beach, had been involved in a domestic violence incident with a woman around 10:34 p.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of Magnolia Avenue, police said.
By the time officers arrived at the scene, Del Valle was barricaded in an apartment and believed to be armed, police added.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel treated the woman at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.
Del Valle refused to comply with officersβ commands to surrender, according to police. After officers attempted to de-escalate the situation, LBPD SWAT resources responded to the scene, police added.
After about two hours, Del Valle left the apartment and was taken into custody, according to the LBPD.
Officers also recovered two firearms, police said.
Del Valle was taken to the Long Beach City Jail, where he was booked for false imprisonment, felony domestic violence and obstructing/resisting a peace officer, according to police.
His bail was set at $50,000, according to authorities.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, police said.
