Burglary suspect arrested after SWAT standoff
James Rey Ibarra, 40, of Long Beach was arrested without incident after an alleged burglary in the 1900 block of Olive Avenue, according to authorities.

Police say they arrested a suspected burglar following a SWAT standoff Thursday afternoon.
Long Beach police officers were sent to a residence on the 1900 block of Olive Avenue regarding a possible burglary, police said. Upon their arrival, the suspect barricaded himself in the residence.
After officers established a perimeter around the suspectβs location, a SWAT team responded to the scene, according to the LBPD.
Officers attempted to de-escalate the situation and get the suspect to surrender, but the suspect refused to comply, police said. When officers then entered the barricaded residence, the suspect "surrendered to officers without incident," according to a LBPD statement.
The suspect was identified as James Rey Ibarra, 40, of Long Beach, police said.
Police took Ibarra to Long Beach City Jail where he was booked on charges of burglary, criminal threats, possession of unlawful paraphernalia and obstruction of justice, police added.
