Boy dies after being hit by car near Heartwell Park, police say
The boy was sitting at a bus stop on Carson Street at Palo Verde Avenue Wednesday afternoon when he was hit, according to police.

A teen boy has died after being hit by a car in East Long Beach, authorities said.
Long Beach police said the 15-year-old was sitting at a bus stop on Carson Street at Palo Verde Avenue Wednesday afternoon at about 2:56 p.m. when he was hit by a 2010 Infiniti G37 that had been hit by another car and pushed onto the sidewalk.
The 2010 Infiniti G37 was traveling westbound on Carson Street when it failed to stop for a red light at the intersection of Palo Verde Avenue, police said. A 2010 Toyota Prius traveling southbound on Palo Verde Avenue entered the intersection on a green traffic signal and hit the Infiniti, police added.
The force of the collision caused the Infiniti to skid and overturn, according to the LBPD. As the Infiniti went onto the northwest sidewalk on Carson Street, it struck the teen, police said.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel gave the teen medical aid and took him to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries, according to authorities.
The teen was not identified because of his age, police said.
The driver of the Toyota Pruis, identified as a 32-year-old male Lakewood resident, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said. The driver of the Infiniti G37 was transported to a local hospital in stable condition, according to the LBPD.
At this time, speed appears to be a factor in the collision, police said.
Anyone who saw the collision is urged to call LBPD Collision Investigation Detail Detective Ashley Van Holland at 562-570-7355.
