Barricaded assault suspect prompts SWAT response in Washington neighborhood, police say
Police say the suspect assaulted another man near Pacific Coast Highway and Magnolia Avenue before barricading himself away from responding officers.

The Long Beach Police Department’s SWAT team has responded to the city’s Washington neighborhood where a man has barricaded himself after assaulting another man, according to authorities.
The motive behind the assault is still under investigation, but police said it happened shortly after 5:30 a.m. near Pacific Coast Highway and Magnolia Avenue.
Two men were in some sort of altercation, according to police, when one of them assaulted the other.

Officers arriving at the scene provided aid to the victim before Long Beach Fire Department personnel took him to a local hospital for treatment, police said.
The suspect, meanwhile, barricaded himself somewhere, according to authorities, though police did not specify where.
LBPD officers have since established a perimeter around the area they believe the suspect barricaded himself and the SWAT team has been activated, according to authorities.
