The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office has identified a man who died when the boat he was on crashed onto the Alamitos Bay Jetty.

Authorities say 59-year-old Long Beach resident John Correa was one of 11 people aboard a 48 foot pleasure boat in the Alamitos Bay area Wednesday night.

The boat, according to officials, was traveling at a high-speed when it suddenly crashed into the Alamitos Bay Jetty around 9:21 p.m.

Correa was pronounced dead at the scene and the 10 other passengers were hospitalized, including three in critical condition, according to the Long Beach Fire Department.

Video obtained by Fox11 News shows first responders helping people off the boat shortly before it sank into the bay.
