36-year-old man fatally shot in Hellman neighborhood, Long Beach police say
Police say 36-year-old Kendell Williams was in the 800 block of Alamitos Avenue sometime around 7:11 p.m. when he was shot multiple times in the upper body.
Detectives are investigating the shooting death of a homeless man Tuesday night in Long Beach's Hellman neighborhood, according to police.
Police say 36-year-old Kendell Williams was in the 800 block of Alamitos Avenue when someone shot him multiple times in the upper body. Despite efforts by Long Beach Fire personnel to save his life, Williams died at the scene, authorities said.
The suspect or suspects, meanwhile, fled the scene, police said.
"The motive for the shooting and circumstances of the incident are still under investigation," the Long Beach Police Department said in a press release Wednesday morning.
Police are asking any witnesses to the shooting to contact detectives at 562-570-7244.
