The three victims were identified as Ali Reza Safai, 73, Margaret Mary Fenner, 55, and Haris Ali, 33.
Three of the five people who died in a plane crash near Catalina Island Airport Tuesday night have been identified by authorities.
The Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victims as Ali Reza Safai, 73, of West Hills, Margaret Mary Fenner, 55, and Haris Ali, 33, of Fullerton. Fenner’s city of residence was not available, they said.
The two other victims have not been identified as the medical examiner’s office works to notify their relatives. They were only listed as two men in their 30s, according to the medical examiner‘s office.
The five victims were aboard a twin-engine Beechcraft 95 that crashed shortly after departing Catalina Island Airport around 8 p.m. It’s unclear why the plane went down about a mile west of the airport, killing everyone onboard, authorities said.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the crash.
