Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide that left a man and woman dead Friday night.

Long Beach police say they responded to the 1500 block of Summit Street around 10:51 p.m. following reports of a shooting. There, officers found Daisy Uribe, 23, of Long Beach, suffering from a gunshot wound to her upper body, according to the LBPD.

Officers gave Uribe aid until relieved by Long Beach Fire Department personnel, who determined that she had died of her injuries, authorities said.

Seven minutes later, officers learned of a second shooting nearby, in the 1600 block of West 19th Street, police said. There, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body, police added.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel took the man to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries, according to the LBPD.

The man's identity is being withheld while authorities work to notify the next of kin, police said.

Police said they believe Uribe and the man were dating, and were involved in a "domestic violence incident,” during which the man shot Uribe. The man then fled the scene, and apparently shot himself on West 19th Street, police added.

While detectives do not believe there are outstanding suspects, the investigation into the shootings is ongoing, according to the LBPD.

Police are asking anyone with information on the shootings to call Homicide Detectives Oscar Valenzuela and Jesus Espinoza at 562-570-7244.
