2 dead, 1 injured in Bellflower murder-suicide, LASD says
Authorities say the victim had filed for a restraining against the gunman earlier in the day.
Two people are dead and another is injured in what authorities say was an apparent murder-suicide in Bellflower.
A woman, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, had filed a restraining order at the Whittier Courthouse Tuesday morning against a man she’d been dating.
Later in the night, the suspect forced his way into the woman’s apartment in the 8500 block of Artesia Boulevard and shot her 26-year-old son in the hip, according to the LASD.
As the 26-year-old tried to escape the house, he saw the gunman enter his mom’s room, according to the LASD. That’s when he heard what sounded like two gunshots, authorities added.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene around 11:30 p.m. when they heard an apparent gunshot from inside the apartment, they said.
Deputies then made a ”tactical” entry into the apartment, where they found the woman dead from a gunshot wound to the head, according to the LASD. The gunman was also pronounced dead from a self-inflicted gunshot to the head, police said.
Their identities were not immediately available. The LASD identified them as a 59-year-old man and 54-year-old woman.
The woman’s son was taken to a local hospital where he is in stable condition, authorities said.
The investigation is ongoing, according to the LASD.
