14 cited during DUI checkpoint in North Long Beach, police say
Two people were cited for moving violations, while the other 12 were ticketed for driving with a suspended license or for driving without a license, according to the LBPD.

Police say they cited 14 people during a DUI checkpoint in North Long Beach Friday night.
The DUI checkpoint, which Long Beach police say was designed to "promote public safety, increasing awareness of the dangers associated with drinking and driving, and deterring impaired and unlicensed/suspended drivers," was set up at the intersection of Cherry Avenue and Artesia Boulevard between 6 p.m. to 1 a.m., according to police.
Of the 282 vehicles that passed through the checkpoint, 116 were screened, according to the Long Beach Police Department. Fourteen people were cited during the checkpoint, 12 of which were for driving with a suspended license or driving without a license, police said.
The remaining two people were cited for moving violations, according to the LBPD.
DUI checkpoint locations are usually placed in areas having a reported history of crashes involving impaired drivers, police said.
Funding for the checkpoint is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, according to the LBPD.
